Bing Webmaster Tools performance report gains new data but you can't filter by just Bing Chat data

Microsoft has launched a new performance report within Bing Webmaster Tools that incorporates new data that Bing never reported on. Previously, Bing only showed web search and crawling data, now this report gains metrics on Bing Images, Bing Videos, Bing News, Bing Knowledge Panel, and more.

Bing Chat data? This does include data from Bing Chat, but you cannot filter out just Bing Chat data alone. Chat is combined with web data at this point, but this should not be surprising to anyone as we expected Bing not to release individual Bing Chat data any time soon.

“With the latest update, we’ve improved Bing web data by combining web and chat clicks and impressions, and we now offer performance data for numerous new verticals or answers, Bing Images, Bing Videos, Bing News, Bing Knowledge Panel, and a combined view of all of them,” Fabrice Canel from Microsoft wrote.

What it looks like. Here is a screenshot of the new report interface:

What is new. Previously, Bing only showed web-specific data in this report. Now Bing is showing data from News, Images, Videos, and knowledge panels and now groups together Chat data with Web data.

So, the web data now includes clicks and impressions from both Bing web search and Bing Chat. Plus, now you gain new click, impression, and click-through rate data from Bing Images, Bing Videos, Bing News, Bing Knowledge Panel.

Only web search will show keyword and page-level details, including clicks, impressions, and CTR. Bing Images, Bing Videos, Bing News, Bing Knowledge Panel will only show clicks, impressions, and CTR data, not pages, keywords, or average position.

More details on how these metrics work can be found in the Bing help documentation.

Why we care. While we didn’t get Bing Chat data to isolate and dive into, we did gain more data sources from Bing to report on. “By accessing granular data across most information displayed, SEO professionals can gain deeper insights into their website’s performance across Bing, enabling them to compare, refine their strategies and, optimize their content and online presence to maximize clicks, impressions, and overall performance,” Fabrice Canel from Microsoft wrote.

Postscript (Danny Goodwin). It is still possible in the future that Bing could break out Web vs. Chat clicks, Canel told me during an AMA panel at Pubcon Pro conference in Austin this morning. Canel also noted that the Chat experience may not translate to more clicks for websites, but better clicks (better meaning more targeted traffic).
