All signs point to ChatGPT launching a search feature soon. When? That remains the big question. <\/p>\n
Update, May 10.<\/strong> OpenAI announced<\/a> a live stream for 10 a.m. PT on May 13 to demo “some ChatGPT and GPT-4 updates.” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on X<\/a>: <\/p>\n Rumor has it. <\/strong>OpenAI is developing a ChatGPT feature that searches the web and cites sources in its results, Bloomberg<\/a> reported (subscription required):<\/p>\n And.<\/strong> “OpenAI has been aggressively trying to poach Google employees for a team that is working hard to ship the product soon,” according to the Verge<\/a>.<\/p>\n Why we care.<\/strong> Search has quickly evolved in a new direction since the emergence of generative AI – with OpenAI seemingly perceived to be ahead of Google in many ways (not yet including Search), even though ChatGPT’s user base is still much smaller than Google. However, there is clearly growing frustration with all aspects of Google – from the quality of Search results to its abundance of advertising.
