Google Analytics 4 users report data gaps in reports

Google denied data was missing from the User Acquisition and Traffic Acquisition reports in Google Analytics 4.

Users claimed that data prior to September 6 is no longer available, despite it having been in place for at least two years prior, as demonstrated in the screenshot below:

What Google is saying. A Google spokesperson told Search Engine Land:

  • “Data prior to September 6 was available by changing the primary dimension to Default Channel Group (this is noted in our Help Center).”
  • “Additionally, to avoid any confusion, we’ve now released an update so that customers can access this data in the Primary Channel Group without making any changes.”

Why we care. If you are still experiencing this problem, changing the primary dimension to Default Channel Group should resolve it.
